For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.
But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.
Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Ahh the Selection. This book was so worth the late night read. Today i'm going to start from the beginning where beef is already happening. We have family pushing girl to be something she doesn't want. Secret lover and over fangirly sister. [That's me. I'm May] First off, I gonna talk about Aspen. t first I liked him but in my head I was thinking. He's gotta go someway somehow. But I didn't think he would be such a jerk about it. Yes I understand that you would like to provide America with the best but sometimes you just can't. I hate how he was complaining that he couldn't bring for him. That just makes him sound like he thinks women are weak. We are able to provide ourselves and we are happy to provide you as well. That's what i'm so bothered by today. Men and boys are expected to be big and tough and women are supposed to depend on them. Again, I get Aspen that you would like to provide America but he took it too the point where America and Aspen's fight wasn't just a fight you get over. Their relationship was over like that. They have been dating for 2 years am i'm here wondering why this conversation wasn't brought up earlier. I don't know how you felt about that but I thought Aspen was a big jerk about that. But then in the middle of the book EFFING ASPEN COMES TO THE GODDAMN PALACE. I was in a class when I read this and I was enraged. WHY MUST YOU RUIN EVERYTHING ASPEN! EVERYTHING WAS GOING SO WELL!! Another thing is Marlee. Man this girl is the best. I love Marlee. She is such a good friend and even though these people are fighting for the same thing they are still friends. Let's talk about Maxon. This dude is like a second Jace. I love America and Maxon's chemistry. It's so funny. My favorite part was when they met for the second time and America didn't want to be called "my dear". Another one was when Marlee and America were talking about Maxon's laugh and how they described it as an asthma attack. I find it cute how Maxon can't handle crying women. I remember when the rebels first attacked how America asked how Maxon was handling a room full of crying women. Haha! One thing I would really like to see was is a book in the point of view from o northern or southern rebel! That would be cool. The maids tho! I love them so much. Let's talk about the ending. Now we are left with Elise, Kriss, Marlee, and Celeste. The Elite. Who do you think is going to be eliminated first in the next book?
Enjoy and you can never read too much. :)
